Mugula is a disappearing photo and video camera that runs inside your existing text conversations on iPhone. There is no new app to open, no account to create, and no contact list to rebuild. You open it from the app drawer in Messages, shoot, edit, and send, and the photo goes to the same thread you were already in.
Everything is built for speed. The camera opens straight into a live viewfinder with face effects running in real time, so a reply takes seconds rather than a round trip through another app.
Live face filters warp your face as you shoot: big eyes, wide mouth, tiny head, and a set of distortions that track you as you move. A filter studio lets you sculpt your own effect with your finger by pushing, bloating, pinching and twirling the face, then save it with a name and reuse it later. There is a face swap that lifts a face out of any photo in your library and maps it onto yours, with your real eyes and mouth showing through so it blinks and talks with you.
On top of that: freehand drawing in any color, emoji and image stickers you can drag, pinch and rotate, text captions in several fonts, and voice and time effects for video, including slow motion, reverse and boomerang. Stickers can be animated by dragging them while a clip plays, and the motion bakes into the exported video.
Every send carries its own rules. Set a view timer so the photo is visible for a second or two once opened, set an expiry so it is gone from the thread within an hour or a day, or blur the preview so the recipient has to tap to reveal. Media is deleted automatically when its time runs out.
Photos and videos are encrypted on the device with a key that never leaves the message. The encrypted file goes to storage, and the key travels inside the conversation itself, which is already end to end encrypted, so only someone in that thread can decrypt it. Face detection runs entirely on the device using Apple's Vision framework, and no face data is ever uploaded or stored. There are no ads, no feed, no followers, and no algorithm.
