This Privacy Policy explains how Pareto ("the app," "we," "us") handles information when you use it. Pareto is an iOS app for splitting bills. We designed it to keep your data on your device wherever possible.
Pareto does not require an account, and we do not operate servers that store your personal information. Your bills, contacts you enter, and split history are stored locally on your device.
When you scan a receipt, the photo is sent to Google's Gemini API to extract line items and amounts. The image is transmitted solely for this processing and is not retained by Pareto after the items are returned. Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Pareto requests access to your camera and photo library only to capture or select a receipt to scan. Images are used for that purpose and are not uploaded anywhere except as described under "Receipt Scanning."
Pareto helps you request payment by generating Venmo deep links. Pareto does not process, transmit, or store any payment or financial-account information — any transaction happens inside Venmo under its own terms and privacy policy.
Optional Pro features are sold through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple handles the transaction; Pareto does not receive your payment details.
The free version of Pareto may display ads through Google AdMob, which may use device identifiers to serve and measure ads. See Google's advertising policies. Upgrading to Pro removes ads.
Pareto is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date.
