8mb

When a file is too big for Discord, email or an upload form, hit Share → 8mb, pick a target size (default 7.99 MB), and 8mb saves a resized copy to your Photos library. The size picker opens right over the share sheet, so there is no app switch. You can also open the app and pick from your library.

How it compresses

• Photos: JPEG quality is binary-searched to the largest size that fits; if the lowest quality still overflows, the image is downscaled step by step.
• Videos: the target bitrate is worked out from the size budget and the clip length, then the video is re-encoded (H.264 + AAC), dropping resolution when the bitrate is too low to hold the full frame. A second pass runs if the first overshoots.

Everything happens on the device. Your original is never modified and nothing is uploaded. Prefer the browser? ShrinkRay does the same for images on any computer.
